Sprinklers Stop Fire at Hampton Inn

The Patch
by Katie Kausch, Jan 16, 2018

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Hampton Inn on Route 46 in Parsippany was evacuated because of a fire Sunday morning, the Rainbow Lakes Volunteer Fire Company said.

The fire was in a hot water heater in the laundry room, officials said. The sprinkler put out most of the fire, they said, but there was also a heavy smoke condition.

The building was evacuated, and there were no injuries. Fire officials said the hotel will “more then likely soon be reoccupied.”

“A few very important lessons are here to be learned by the public,” firefighters wrote. “One – When the fire alarm goes off in any building please evacuate as quickly as possible, because it may not be a false alarm. Two – Smoke travels quickly through a building so the faster you get out the safer you and your family will be. Three- Sprinklers save lives and property!

In addition to the Rainbow Lakes company, MT Tabor Fire Company District # 1, Parsippany Fire District # 5, Parsippany Fire District # 4 Rapid Intervention Team, Boonton Twp Fire Dept Rapid Intervention Team, Parsippany Police, Parsippany EMS and Parsippany Fire Prevention all responded.
