FREE Fire Sprinkler Burn Demonstration Trailer Events
Since 2005, we've performed our trailer demonstrations for schools, community events and fire fighter departments from all over the New Jersey tri-state area. Our Board has conducted community education presentations of our trailer for very young school children, general audiences, contractor professionals and fire fighters and officials - and tailors the presentation depending on each audience. Our total presentation lasts anywhere from 10-20 minutes - including burn demonstration and introduction - and is suitable for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Atlantic Builders Convention:
The New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board attends this annual
event at the Atlantic City Convention Center to inform builders
and developers on the benefits of fire sprinklers in saving
lives and property, as well as to educate builders and
developers on the current code changes and legislation involving
fire sprinklers and how it pertains to structural fire
suppression.

National Fire Sprinkler Association
Annual Seminar & Exhibition, 2009:
Members of the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board attend
the National Fire Sprinkler Association's Annual Seminar to
learn about the state of the industry, attend workshops and
network with other members from around the country.
This year, NJFSAB Executive Director
David Kurasz gave a presentation on what the New Jersey chapter
of NFSA is doing on the local level to promote the benefits of
fire sprinklers and the International Residential Code.

Past Events
In May, 2009, we performed our side-by-side
demonstration at the Toms River Fire Academy before a crowd of
fire service professionals, media and members of the public.
Our Executive Director, David Kurasz, gave a presentation on the
International Residential Code and urged everyone to write to
their local legislators to promote this code, which would
require fire sprinklers to be installed in all new single and
double family homes by 2012.
In April, 2009, members from our Board
attended the Atlantic Builders Convention in Atlantic City, NJ,
where we gave a presentation on what the International
Residential Code will mean for builders and developers in NJ, as
well as a description of how residential fire sprinklers work
and the benefits of them in saving lives and property. The
presentation attracted significant media coverage by the
Atlantic City Press and NJN News.
In November, 2008, Board members attended
the NJ League of Municipalities at the Atlantic City Convention
Center. This event gave us a chance to tell mayors and other
members of our state’s municipalities about the new codes and
legislative bills involving fire sprinklers and fire suppression
in NJ.
As part of the annual National Fire
Prevention Week, in October, 2008, we presented a smokehouse
demonstration in Upper Saddle River. The smokehouse is a
portable mini house that fills with smoke the same way a home
would during a real fire. Local firemen teach adults and
children how to escape a smoke-filled room during interactive
demonstrations.
In September, 2008, the Board joined New
Jersey fire officials in a press conference and fire
demonstration urging state officials to adopt high-rise fire
sprinkler retrofit regulations
The evening of
October 18, 2007, our Board attended the St. Barnabas Burn
Foundation’s 2007 Valor Awards Dinner in Livingston, NJ, where
we presented the foundation with a check for $10,000 on behalf
of the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board.
On October 12,
2007, we prepared a side-by-side burn demonstration in
partnership with the Bergen County Law & Public Safety institute
around National Fire Prevention Week. The burn was successful,
attended by members of the media and fire fighter trainees who
used the simulation for extinguishing practice.
On September 19,
2007, the Board hosted a side-by-side burn demonstration at the
Middlesex Fire Academy in Sayreville, NJ. The demonstration was
held to support newly proposed high-rise retrofit regulations
for New Jersey. Many state and local fire officials joined us
that day, as well as safety officials and members of the press.
Held on September 30, the year 2006 marked the 17th annual Public Safety Expo held in Bergen County, and our organization was honored to coordinate our first ever side-by-side burn demonstration during this landmark event. In front of a crowd of 100 people - and with news video cameras rolling - we set two identical, fully furnished rooms ablaze to demonstrate the contrast of a residential fire with fire sprinklers and without fire sprinklers.
