About The NJFSAB
About the Board
The New Jersey Fire Sprinkler
Advisory Board (NJFSAB) is a cooperative partnership
advocating installation and proper care of fire sprinkler
systems as a highly effective means of helping save lives
and property. Headquartered in North Brunswick, NJ, the Board is
comprised of local leaders, contractors, businesses and
unionized personnel representing fire sprinkler
construction, production, distribution and installation.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to help save lives and property through educating the public on the dangers of fire and the effectiveness and benefits of fire sprinklers in responding to that immediate danger.
Working alongside fire and government authorities in New Jersey, we support educational programs and legislative measures to effect positive changes, increase consideration, promote proper usage and enhance/enforce building codes for fire sprinklers in new and renovated properties.
Board Composition
The
Board is comprised of
contractor/business-leader appointed members, elected by the
National Fire Sprinkler Association's New Jersey Chapter.
They are joined by selected representatives of the Sprinkler
Fitters Local Union 696 who serve in an advisory capacity.
National Fire Sprinkler Association New Jersey Chapter
- The Chapter provides support and action for National Fire
Sprinkler Association Members that are based in New Jersey.
It helps maintain and bolster the National Fire Sprinkler
Association's mission and ideals on a local level.
Meetings are on the second Tuesday of every month except
December, June, July and August at Ristorante Venezia, 112 Main St. Woodbridge, NJ 07095
Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 696 - The Local 696 is dedicated to training and educating professional fire sprinkler installers. We work to provide contractors and end-users in the state of New Jersey with well-trained journeymen and apprentices that provide top-quality service and skill installing fire sprinkler systems in commercial, governmental, educational and residential properties. NJFSAB Activities
Burn Trailer demonstrations
We offer FREE presentations of our Fire Sprinkler Burn Demonstration Trailer
from the months of April through early November (weather dependent). Our Burn Trailer is a demonstration tool which physically simulates the action time for sprinklers to extinguish a fire. We've performed our trailer demonstrations for schools, community events and fire fighter departments. Roughly 16 feet long by eight feet wide, the trailer is mobile enough to travel and operate anywhere within the New Jersey tri-state area. To view a live video and photos of our Fire Sprinkler Burn Demonstration Trailer, visit our
Resources Page.
The “side-by-side” demonstration is a
highly effective learning tool used to present possible extreme
fire hazards and show how residential and commercial sprinklers
effectively limit those hazards. There is no more dramatic way
to demonstrate the devastating speed and effect of flashover.
Like the burn trailer demonstration, this
too is FREE OF CHARGE to any group, organization
or community event. There are two “rooms” – both are furnished
as a typical living room, bedroom or dorm room. The difference
is that one of the rooms has a smoke alarm, while the other has
a smoke alarm AND a single sprinkler head. This demonstration
reveals the speed at which the fire sprinkler suppresses the
fire in one room – usually under a minute -- while the other
room continues to burn and is already at flashover (the point at
which everything in the room ignites) before a fire department
typically arrives on scene.
